Dr. Melissa Stange received an Associate of Applied Science from Chattahoochee Valley Community College, a Bachelor of Science from Shenandoah University, a Masters of Business Administration from Averett University, an Advance Computer Security Professional Certificate from Stanford Center for Professional Development, a Master of Science in Computer Science Nova Southeastern University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Management and Decision Sciences from Walden University. The title of her dissertation was: Limited Assessment of the Curricula of Selected Information System Technology Associate Degree Programs, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Robert Kilmer and the title of her MBA thesis was Document Imaging at Valley Health Systems. During her studies she published papers on Anomalous Code Elimination, Operating Systems for Server and Client-Side Computing, and Operating System Selection Through Gamification, along with presenting at professional conferences.
Dr. Stange is member of several professional associations including the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Association of Technology, Management and Applied Engineering (ATMAE), American Statistical Association (ASA), American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), National Cyber Watch Center, Computer Science Teacher Association (CSTA), Women in Cybersecurity (WiCyS), Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), Epsilon Pi Tau (EPT) International Honor Society for Technology, Women in Aviation International (WAI) and several other state and national security organizations. Her research areas of interest include machine learning, fuzzy logic, decision science, computer science education and Cybersecurity. Currently, she is a researcher with the CS for All organization. She has served as an Associate Editor for the ACM Crossroads Magazine for Students, a publication reviewer for ACM and IEEE. Dr. Stange also has served has been a proposal reviewer or committee member for professional conferences such as the Special Interest Group for Computer Science Education (SIGCSE), Innovation and Technology in Computer Science Education (ITiCSE), International Computing Education Research (ICER) and International Conference on Mobile, Hybrid, and On-line Learning.
Moreover, Dr. Stange has several publications in journals and in the proceedings of peer-refereed conferences. Dr. Stange is currently the program lead for the computer science and Unmanned Systems programs at Laurel Ridge Community College and is an adjunct professor with George Mason University in the Cybersecurity Engineering program. Through her career she has taught courses in information technology, cybersecurity, decision science, computer science, website and app development, and business information systems. Dr. Stange’s diverse background provides a unique way to infuse technology into multiple disciplines and sciences, while ensuring globe thinking and sustainability. She also is co-founder of Ninja Honey Bees LLC and owner of NinjaHB-UAS LLC. Dr. Stange strongly believes that everyone can give back to the community by donating their time and talents to organizations that provide food, medicine, housing, education, and opportunities those in need and have a desire to better themselves.
